Hi Cam, Congratulations on buying the Lifetime SmartHome. We’d like to firstly know what’s your favourite feature?
“Thanks Sharon, I guess my favourite feature would be the overall ambience, the comfortable feeling of the home. I can really feel at home here. It’s also comfortable and warm with all the sunshine.”
What made you decide to buy this particular home?
“There are a few things really. The ease of access was a major reason. I have MS so many of the features, such as wider doors and hallways and raised washing machine, are of benefit to me now and other features may be needed in the future. It will allow me to age in place, and so I can stay out of aged care facilities.
Another thing I liked about this home was the smart technology as I have a technology background. What really set this home apart was the passion with which it was built, the high quality fittings and the amount of thought that has gone into all the detailing.”
You mentioned you have MS, did you want to share a bit about your journey?
“Sure, I’m pretty open about it with people. I was diagnosed with MS back in 2001 and for many years it was thought it was benign MS. However, after a stressful journey of being a carer for my partner who got younger onset dementia, my MS reappeared late 2015.
MS is a rather complex disease directed against the central nervous system that affects the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves and therefore the major communication pathways. In the initial stages MS can relapse and remit but at around the 15-25 year mark it can go into the secondary progressive stage where you deteriorate in your condition.
It means you need to put a lot of thought up front about your accessible needs in the future, which is one of the reasons I bought the Lifetime SmartHome.”
Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us!
We are so pleased you will benefit from many of the Lifetime SmartHome features and we are glad to help make your life just that little bit easier. We wish you all the very best with your journey.
